"account": "Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama received international acclaim at the 2026 World Health Summit in Berlin for his exceptional leadership in global health matters. The summit convenes influential figures from various sectors to discuss and promote global health priorities. Ghana's Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, accepted the prestigious Berliner Bär award on behalf of the President. The award ceremony recognized Mahama's commitment to advancing global health. During his address at the summit, Akandoh emphasized the need for sovereign nations to play a greater role in shaping health priorities and decisions affecting their populations. He argued that global health initiatives should be designed with and led by countries, not for them. This call for equitable global health governance gained significant traction. Akandoh outlined several domestic initiatives in Ghana aimed at strengthening the country's health system, including free primary healthcare, the Mahama Cares program, increased investment in immunization, and mobilization of domestic resources. He stressed that building resilience requires building domestic systems. The recognition from the World Health Summit underscores Ghana's push for a more equitable global health system, where nations have greater influence over policy, financing, and program execution.",
