"account": "A Lesothan national, Tisetso Maoeng, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the abduction and rape of an 18-year-old woman in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The attack occurred on September 24, 2025, near Palmietfontein. The victim, who had gone to a local spaza shop instructed by her grandmother, encountered Maoeng who repeatedly raped her despite her pleas for help. Upon her return home, she informed her aunt, who then reported the incident to the police. Maoeng was found guilty of three counts of rape and contravening the Immigration Act. The court ordered 20 years for each rape count and one year for the immigration violation, with portions of the sentences running concurrently, resulting in a 40-year prison term. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Eastern Cape Division's Director of Public Prosecutions commended the prosecution team and law enforcement for their efforts in this case, emphasizing their commitment to combating gender-based violence and ensuring justice for victims.",
