"account": "Military veterans in Abuja prevented access to the Military Pensions Board office on Tuesday, expressing concerns about the formula used to adjust their pensions. They blocked the entrance with canopies and chairs, while armed soldiers stopped them from entering. This occurred weeks after similar protests at the Ministry of Defence in September, where veterans demanded higher pensions following salary adjustments for active-duty military personnel. The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, had assured the veterans that an increase would be provided in October. Lt. Col. Innocent Azubike, Coordinator of the Veterans Association of Nigeria, claimed that the board had adopted a formula shortchanging some retirees. The protest followed growing discontent among veterans regarding the implementation of the promised pension adjustments.",
