"account": "The Nigeria Customs Service, Zone 'A' in Ikeja, successfully intercepted three live pangolins during an anti-smuggling operation on Monday morning. Acting Comptroller of the unit, Oladapo Afeni, highlighted this achievement as part of the Service's ongoing fight against wildlife trafficking and organised crime. The seized pangolins were concealed in a wire mesh cage within a sack. Upon spotting the Customs patrol team, the criminals abandoned the consignment and fled into a nearby swamp. The intercepted animals have been taken to the Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative Centre for safekeeping and rehabilitation. The Customs Service reiterates that offenders face severe penalties under Nigerian law for smuggling, possessing, transporting, or commercialising endangered species, which are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.",
