"summary": "Pope Leo XIV announced during his Sunday Angelus address on October 11 that he will undergo surgery to remove a lung nodule. The 71-year-old pontiff stated the growth was detected at an early stage and is well localised. According to Vatican News via Live Mint, the Pope is scheduled to be admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday, October 13.\n\nFrance 24 reports that doctors anticipate a recovery period of approximately seven days. Live Mint notes that the Vatican has cancelled his public engagements until October 20, though Reuters reported the Pope maintained his scheduled meetings on Monday with bishops and members of a charitable organisation.
