"summary": "Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant at the Washington, D.C. home of Representative Ilhan Omar on Monday afternoon. The Department of Justice stated the enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age report the search, conducted three weeks before the midterm elections, involves allegations of immigration fraud.\n\nRepresentative Omar described the search as an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement and target political enemies. In a social media post, the Minnesota lawmaker stated that President Donald Trump has targeted her with baseless lies and smear campaigns for ten years, calling the event an escalation of political intimidation.\n\nWhile the Department of Justice provided no further details, a person familiar with the investigation told Reuters that the probe concerns alleged immigration fraud and involves immigration paperwork filled out by Omar's late father when she was a child. TIME noted it has been unable to independently verify those details.",
