"account": "Nintendo's Latin America Vice President, Bill van Zyll, has stated that the company has no plans to abandon physical games. Eurogamer reports that van Zyll told YouTuber Coelho no Japão that Nintendo acknowledges fans' interest in physical media and bases its decisions on what consumers want. Historically, Nintendo has been \"agnostic,\" focusing on consumer preferences. The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, launched in June 2025, supports both digital and physical formats. Van Zyll emphasized that there are no plans to drop physical games, as fans enjoy them, leading to the company's agnostic stance. Nintendo games can be purchased digitally through the Nintendo eShop or on cartridges, which can be either full games or Game-Key Cards serving as license keys for digital versions. The report notes consumer pushback on Game-Key Cards, as some discover their physical version is merely a key card. The comments come after Sony announced in July that it will cease physical disc production for new PlayStation games starting January 2028, citing a shift in customer behavior toward digital purchases.",
