"account": "New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has directed the NYPD to conduct an extensive examination of the department's use-of-force policies, in response to mounting criticism from progressives who demand more stringent oversight. This comes amidst calls from the Democratic Socialists of America for NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to resign following a federal immigration officer's fatal shooting of a man in 2024. Mamdani's announcement, which includes increased funding for the NYPD's Inspector General's Office and stricter accountability measures, is the first of its kind in a decade. However, the police union has criticized the mayor's plan, stating it is an attempt to appease progressive demands for a radical overhaul of the department.",
