"summary": "Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant at the Washington, D.C. home of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar early Monday. The Justice Department stated the search is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation, though it provided no further details regarding its nature or scope. Omar called the search an attempt to target political enemies and stated she will not be silenced.\n\nThe raid occurred approximately one month ahead of the midterm elections. According to the South China Morning Post, the timing has raised questions regarding Justice Department protocol to avoid overt investigative steps involving political candidates during the run-up to an election. Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have condemned the raid.\n\nFox News reported that the investigation stems from criminal fraud inquiries into immigration paperwork completed by Omar's father when she was a child. Hindustan Times - World News noted that Tom Homan, President Donald Trump's border enforcement chief, confirmed to Fox News that an investigation had been underway for some time and that a search warrant had been executed that morning.",
