"account": "On Monday, US federal agents conducted a dawn raid on the residence of Democratic US Representative Ilhan Omar, according to US media reports. The search was a result of a criminal fraud investigation into Ms Omar's immigration documentation, which her late father had filled out when she was a child, as reported by Fox News, quoting unnamed sources. Ms Omar has vehemently denied the allegations, dismissing them as false and politically motivated. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security stated that a judicially authorized search warrant issued by the Department of Justice led to the enforcement action in the Washington, DC area. The Justice Department and Ms Omar's representatives did not provide immediate comments to The National. Ms Omar immigrated to the US as a child, escaping the civil war in Somalia. She became a US citizen at the age of 17 in 2000 and was elected to Congress representing Minnesota's 5th District in 2018. Ms Omar is contesting for the same seat in the upcoming election on November 3. A vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, Ms Omar has often faced his attacks, with him suggesting her deportation in the past. In February, President Trump called for Ms Omar and fellow Democrat Rashida Tlaib to be \"institutionalized\" after they criticized his remarks during the State of Union address. The President has also recently targeted Abdul El Sayed, a Democratic candidate for a US Senate seat in Michigan, whom he once referred to as a \"jihadist lunatic.\"",
