"summary": "The U.S. Army has acquired its inaugural Hanwha-made mobile howitzer system, according to a report from The Korea Times. The Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC), produced by Hanwha Defense USA, a subsidiary of South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace Co., was showcased at a recent U.S. Army event in Washington, per Defense News. Brig. Gen. Robert Mikesh Jr., the Army's portfolio management executive for offensive fires, expressed enthusiasm about the new acquisition and the potential for soldier feedback. Hanwha Defense USA was chosen in August to provide prototypes for the MTC program, which seeks to replace the Army's outdated M777 towed howitzers with a more mobile 155 mm artillery system. The contract includes the delivery of six MTC prototypes, with an option for an additional 12 systems, and is valued at up to $262.9 million.",
