"account": "Velez theatre introduces Spanish musical comedy, El Barbero de Sevilla, at Teatro del Carmen on October 17. This traditional zarzuela performance, distinct from Rossini's famous opera, stars Elena, a young woman who defies her father's wishes to pursue a singing career. Her boyfriend, Ricardo, has been deceitful about his occupation. When her father is away, Elena's singing teacher steps in to help her take the stage. The play, which premiered in Madrid in 1901, blends spoken dialogue with singing and orchestral music, often compared to operetta. Zarzuela has been a significant part of Spanish theater for centuries, covering a wide range of themes from light-hearted comedy to more serious social issues. With tickets priced at €15 online and €17 at the box office, this show offers an opportunity for locals and visitors to experience a theatrical tradition that may be less familiar to international audiences. The production aims to provide a cultural evening filled with humor, romance, and the colorful world of Spanish opera.",
