"account": "Alexander Zverev is set to wrap up the 2026 season as the world's top-ranked tennis player following Carlos Alcaraz's unexpected loss at the Shanghai Masters. Zverev was poised to surpass current world number one Jannik Sinner, who is sidelined for the remainder of the year due to a knee injury. Alcaraz maintained a slim mathematical chance of denying Zverev until the third-round defeat by Belgium's Zizou Bergs on Monday, securing the ranking. Zverev expressed delight at finishing the year atop the rankings, calling it a \"dream come true.\" Prior to this season, Zverev had won the French Open and US Open titles, both victories coming when either Alcaraz or Sinner were absent due to injury. At 29, he has capitalized on their injuries to become the world's leading player. Zverev cannot overtake Sinner until at least November 2nd, making him the first German and oldest player to end the year as number one.",
