"account": "A 38-year-old woman from China will be charged with theft after allegedly stealing a Swarovski bracelet worth approximately S$256 (US$200) from a shop at Changi Airport Terminal 3, according to the Singapore Police Force. The theft took place on September 26 at around 1:15 am, when a retail assistant discovered the missing bracelet on a display shelf in the departure transit area of the Swarovski store. Surveillance footage captured the woman taking the bracelet and leaving the store without making a payment.\n\nPolice officers, utilizing ground enquiries and CCTV images, identified the suspect and subsequently arrested her before she departed Singapore. The recovered bracelet was found in her possession. If convicted, the woman faces potential imprisonment for up to seven years or a fine, or both. Authorities emphasized their serious stance against shop theft and highlighted the effectiveness of CCTV cameras, including those with facial recognition technology, in deterring offenders and aiding police investigations. Retailers have also increasingly relied on such footage to report and document suspected shoplifters, even when immediate apprehension is not possible.",
