"account": "An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai was forced to divert to Hyderabad on October 11, 2026, after a passenger's power bank caught fire in the overhead bin mid-flight. The Airbus A321 aircraft safely landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, with no reported injuries among the 180 passengers and seven crew members on board. Smoke emanated from a customer's personal electronic device stored in the overhead compartment, later identified as a power bank by IndiGo. Cabin crew members quickly contained the fire using a fire extinguisher, and videos circulated online showing passengers attempting to smother the flames with bags. The flight, originally scheduled to arrive in Chennai at 4 pm, landed in Hyderabad at 3:59 pm, and IndiGo provided an alternate aircraft for passengers to continue their journey to Chennai. IndiGo's baggage policy permits power banks and spare lithium batteries in hand baggage only, requiring them to remain within the passenger's personal reach at all times and not in overhead compartments or checked baggage, due to the risk of overheating and fire in lithium-ion batteries.",
