"summary": "Eliud Kipchoge won the Melbourne Marathon in a course record time of 2:09:10. The 41-year-old Kenyan, a two-time Olympic champion, achieved his first marathon victory since Berlin in September 2023. According to BBC Sport, the race was partly run along the Albert Park Formula One track and finished at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australian Thomas do Canto finished as the runner-up in 2:10:35, with Reece Edwards in third. In the women's race, Camille French won with a time of 2:28:25, followed by Sinead Diver and Nichola Sheridan.\n\nKipchoge stated that his body is still peaking and expressed pride in competing alongside the younger generation. The event served as the third stop on his world tour, which aims to run a marathon on every continent. Kenyan President William Ruto praised the athlete, calling him one of the greatest marathon runners the world has ever seen.\n\nRunners raised safety concerns during the event. The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald both reported that one runner claimed he was struck by a pacing vehicle while attempting to help a woman who had been clipped by a car.",
