"account": "More than 55,000 runners participated in the 2026 Chicago Marathon, navigating a 26.2-mile course through the city's streets. Kenya's Amos Kipruto emerged victorious, securing his first Chicago Marathon win with a time of 2:01:09, which marked a personal best for the 34-year-old. Kipruto had previously finished second in 2024 and third in 2025. The race began with Kipruto pulling ahead of defending champion Jacob Kiplimo at mile 21, maintaining his lead to the finish. Kipruto expressed his elation, stating, \"Today's race was really good for me... I came here in 2024, I became position three, 2025 I became position two. And now 2026 it was either win or die for me.\"\n\nHawaii's Hawi Feysa defended her women's title with a new personal best of 2:13:33. She followed up her performance with Sharon Lokedi of Kenya, her fellow Kenyan from the Boston Marathon, and Brigid Kosgei of Kenya in third place. The race featured ideal sunny but cool conditions, with Kipruto visibly elated upon crossing the finish line, only to sink to the floor before quickly rising with a big grin. Kipruto's preparation for the Chicago Marathon was perfect, as he improved significantly during his training for the London Marathon earlier in the year.",
