"account": "US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has defended the Russia diesel deal, stating it is beneficial for Americans. He pledged to utilize all legal means to push through the arrangement, following a phone call between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The deal allows Russia to supply nearly 5 million tons of diesel fuel to global markets annually, with additional shipments in November and March. The US announced the deal on Friday, following the Trump-Putin phone call. Russia has eased its diesel export ban, agreeing to supply the US and global markets in the specified volumes. However, the deal's implications on the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 remain unclear, as the latter was intended to cripple Russia's energy export earnings through tariffs on goods from top purchasers of Russian oil and gas.",
"summary": "On Saturday, Russia said it had eased a ban on diesel exports with immediate effect, after an agreement between Putin and Trump.",
