"account": "Pope Leo XIV has announced his plans for lung surgery following the discovery of a nodule during recent medical examinations. The 71-year-old pontiff disclosed the news to pilgrims assembled in St Peter’s Square after the Angelus prayer on Sunday, October 11. Speaking from the window of the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo stated that the nodule had been detected at an early stage and was well-localised, prompting the doctors to recommend surgical removal of the abnormal tissue. The Pope confirmed that the procedure is scheduled to take place in the coming days, and Vatican sources indicated that the patient is expected to remain in hospital for about a week. Although the Vatican has not confirmed whether the nodule is benign or malignant, no cancer diagnosis has been made. The Pope thanked supporters and requested the faithful to remember him in their prayers as he prepares for additional international engagements, including a pastoral visit to South America in November.",
