"account": "Kenyan presidential hopeful Patrick Osoi has cautioned Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote against hastening the planned $16 billion oil refinery project in the country. Speaking at a Lions Movement event, Osoi pledged to rely on domestic investors if elected president next year, stating that Kenyans possess the business acumen to undertake the project without Dangote's involvement. The proposed refinery in Lamu would have a capacity of 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day, aiming to bolster local refining capacity and lessen the nation's reliance on imported petroleum products. Despite Dangote's groundbreaking ceremony for the project on September 30, 2026, and plans to complete construction within 40 months, the initiative has met resistance from certain local residents due to land and compensation issues, as well as environmental concerns. Furthermore, a Kenyan court has ordered the preservation of the current state of affairs in a land dispute related to the project.",
