The incident occurred as barista Kirk Pearson was working, and he described the car as \"screaming\" from Elizabeth Street before hitting the pedestrian.\n\nThe Melbourne Marathon took place on the same day, with Eliud Kipchoge winning the men's race in a course record time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 10 seconds, according to Channel News Asia and ABC News. The 42km journey took participants down St Kilda Road, past Flinders Street Station, around Albert Park Lake, before a finish inside the MCG.\n\nKipchoge, 41, beat Australians Thomas Do Canto and Reece Edwards, who finished second and third, respectively. In the women's race, New Zealand's Camille French won in 2:28:25, followed by Australian Sinead Diver and Irish runner Nichola Sheridan.",
