"account": "Melbourne witnessed a triumphant return for two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge as the Kenyan legend clinched his first marathon victory in three years on Sunday. The seasoned marathoner finished the race in 2 hours, 9 minutes, 10 seconds, just two seconds shy of the existing race record. This remarkable feat marked Kipchoge's first marathon win since Berlin in 2023, as part of his ambitious \"World Tour\" initiative aimed at raising funds for causes close to his heart. The 41-year-old, who had announced plans to complete marathons on all seven continents, including Antarctica, completed the journey as the third leg of his marathon tour after stops in South Africa and Brazil. The race course took him on a thrilling ride, partly over the iconic Australian Formula One track at Albert Park, culminating in a breathtaking finish at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kipchoge expressed his joy at the vibrant atmosphere, praising the enthusiastic crowd as he crossed the finish line. While he might have pushed harder, he chose to slow down to enjoy the moment, waving to the adoring fans. Kipchoge's victory was a testament to his enduring spirit and dedication, inspiring the younger generation and sparking pride in the Melbourne running community. The race also saw Australian Thomas Do Canto finish second, while New Zealand's Camille French claimed the women's title with a time of 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 25 seconds.",
