The incident occurred when a man, related to seven victims and a friend to the eighth, opened fire inside the residence. The shooting was detected by ShotSpotter, an artificial intelligence-driven gunshot detection system. Police responded to the scene, finding multiple victims on the first and second floors. The gunman, a 45-year-old man, was found dead on the second floor. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah declined to disclose the motive behind the attack but assured the community of support. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed condolences to the victims' families, emphasizing the city's unity in mourning.",
