"account": "Vice President JD Vance has announced he will not partake in the proposed livestream of Nidal Hasan's execution, the former Army psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people at Fort Hood military base in Texas in 2009. According to Reuters, Vance expressed doubt about the livestream's occurrence, even as Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced its plan. During a campaign visit in Ohio, Vance stated he would not be watching the execution if it were livestreamed.\n\nUS President Donald Trump had previously declared that Hasan would be executed by firing squad, but Reuters reported Trump had not commented on the proposed livestream. Critics, particularly within the Republican party, have raised concerns about the execution, with some even labeling it as \"beyond disgusting\". Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina called for the livestream plan to be shelved, arguing such executions are common in oppressive dictatorships. If the execution proceeds as planned, Hasan would become the first person executed by a US military firing squad since 1945.",
