"account": "Several Republican lawmakers have publicly opposed President Donald Trump's decision to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the plan earlier this week, which has faced criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.\n\nThom Tillis, a retiring North Carolina Republican Senator, called the plan \"beyond disgusting\" and criticized public executions as a practice of oppressive dictatorships. Senator JD Vance cast doubt on whether the execution would actually be livestreamed but stated he would not watch if it were.\n\nSen. John Kennedy expressed his support for the death penalty but opposed live-streaming, stating that America should not emulate the tactics of jihadists. Rep. Kevin Yoder also condemned the livestreaming, emphasizing that the focus should be on justice for the victims and their families.\n\nThe planned firing-squad execution for Hasan is scheduled for December 3 at 1 p.m. The controversy surrounding the plan comes amid discussions on the execution methods in the United States following a botched execution of Christa Pike in Tennessee.",
