"summary": "Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has postponed legislative elections and set a date for both presidential and legislative elections. According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abbas issued a presidential decree calling for simultaneous presidential and legislative elections to be held on September 11, 2027.\n\nThe legislative elections had been scheduled for November 28 this year, while a presidential vote had been expected in early 2027. The presidency blamed the delay on obstacles imposed by Israeli measures that prevent elections from being held on their previously scheduled date.\n\nThe decision was made after consultations among Palestinian factions, political forces, and the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The postponement is to allow for the establishment of suitable political, security, and field conditions for free, fair, and inclusive elections, as cited by WAFA.",
