"summary": "Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced his willingness to provide full accountability for the cost of evacuating Ghanaians from South Africa amid xenophobic attacks. He has invited the Auditor-General to conduct a comprehensive audit of all evacuations since 2017, marking the first time a Foreign Affairs Minister has fully accounted for the financial expenditure incurred during an evacuation exercise. The Minority in Parliament has been demanding comprehensive documentary evidence on the expenditure, following a briefing by Ablakwa on September 7, which disclosed that the government spent GH¢49.7 million to evacuate 1,964 Ghanaians. The Minority argues that while the minister's disclosure is an important step, it must be backed by documents that allow Parliament and the public to independently verify the expenditure.",
