"summary": "US President Donald Trump has called the Nobel Peace Prize decision \"disgraceful\" and \"embarrassing\" after it was awarded to Navi Pillay, a South African-born jurist and former UN human rights chief. Pillay was recognised for her efforts to promote peace and international law.\n\nTrump claimed he deserved the prize, saying he had settled eight wars since resuming office. He also described Pillay as \"a liar\". The Trump administration imposed new sanctions on the International Criminal Court hours after the award was announced.\n\nPillay, 85, had a humorous response to her win, joking that she might share the honour with Trump if the applause continued. She led a UN commission that concluded Israel is responsible for genocide in Gaza.",
