"summary": "Cloudflare has acquired Deno, a startup co-founded by Node.js creator Ryan Dahl. Deno had developed an open-source alternative to Cloudflare Workers, a serverless computing platform. The acquisition brings the entire Deno team to Cloudflare, with plans to build on Deno's open-source implementation of the Durable Objects pattern.\n\nAccording to The New Stack, Deno had raised around $26 million in funding and had been a competitor to Cloudflare, with its own runtime and cloud hosting service. However, Deno's standalone runtime and cloud hosting service will be wound down, with its engineers focusing on Cloudflare Workers.\n\nDeno creator Ryan Dahl stated that Cloudflare will support the Deno runtime for another year with monthly releases containing bug fixes and security updates, after which development will end. Deno will remain open source, allowing others to continue its development.",
