"account": "Karachi has witnessed a collaborative effort to save the ailing elephant Madhubala, involving Sri Lankan wildlife health specialist and veterinarian Dr Buddhika Bandara. Dr Bandara joined forces with Dr Amir Khalil, a Four Paws expert, and the Safari Park vet team to conduct a joint medical examination. They were brought in by local authorities after Safari Park vets were unable to pinpoint the root cause of Madhubala's declining health. The female African elephant has been suffering from severe weight loss, repeated collapses, and bacterial and parasitic infections, among other ailments. Dr Khalil revealed that Madhubala's condition was further complicated by a linear fracture in her carpal joint. Despite showing signs of recovery, the future of the endangered creature remains uncertain. The foreign experts are also set to evaluate Malika, Madhubala's only companion, who resides in Karachi Zoo. Both elephants are the only captive elephants left in the country, having been separated following the death of Noor Jehan, Madhubala's previous companion, in 2023. Noor Jehan's autopsy report revealed her demise was due to a severe blood parasitic infection, internal trauma, and inadequate medical attention. Since being transferred to Safari Park in November 2024, Madhubala's situation worsened when her sister Sonia died soon after, leading to speculation of negligence and improper care.",
