"account": "On Friday, NASA unveiled a long-awaited request seeking private industry to develop space stations, with plans for them to replace the International Space Station as a habitat for astronauts in low-Earth orbit by 2030. Accompanying the 360-page request for proposals was a cover letter outlining NASA's intentions: to maintain a consistent human presence in low-Earth orbit for scientific research and exploration purposes. Several private companies, who have spent years working on station designs, eagerly anticipated the announcement to learn what specific capabilities NASA is seeking. The solicitation documents, now available, finally provide clarity on this matter. NASA's request for proposals can be accessed here. Industry responses are due to NASA on December 8, and the agency plans to select two or more contractors in this phase of the competition, with a final decision to be made in April.",
