"summary": "Three men have been found guilty of murdering two Australian brothers, Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend Carter Rhoad, during a surfing trip in Mexico's Baja California state in April 2024. The tourists were killed in an apparent botched robbery of their truck in a secluded beach area, with their bodies later found with gunshot wounds to their heads, dumped down a well, according to BBC World.\n\nThe trial, which lasted a month, heard emotional testimony from the parents of the Australian brothers, Martin and Debra Robinson, who were present in court throughout the proceedings. Family members of Rhoad joined the trial by video link. The prosecution had sought 150 years in prison for each of the three defendants.\n\nThe murders sparked international outrage, particularly in Australia, as the coastal area is usually safe from the violence in other parts of Mexico. The incident occurred during a surfing holiday in April 2024.",
