"summary": "Ghana has been upgraded to Tier 1 in the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, according to International Justice Mission (IJM) Ghana. The upgrade signifies that the country fully meets the minimum standards for eliminating human trafficking and reflects years of coordinated action and stronger collaboration among various stakeholders. IJM Ghana highlighted the progress in prosecution, protection, and prevention, with 212 alleged traffickers prosecuted, 28 convictions secured, and 2,331 victims identified and referred to appropriate services. The organization praised the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Economic and Organised Crime Office for their efforts. However, IJM cautioned that the ranking should not be seen as the end of the work, as children in Ghana still face forced labor and child trafficking on Lake Volta remains a significant concern.",
