"account": "South African jurist Navi Pillay, a 2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, dedicated the prestigious award to \"survivors of international crimes\" during a press conference in Nuremberg, Germany. The site of Nazi leaders' trials after World War Two holds a poignant backdrop for Pillay's dedication. Pillay, 85, previously headed tribunals that prosecuted those responsible for the 1994 Rwanda genocide and the conflict in Gaza, where she accused Israel of committing genocide. Israel's foreign ministry denounced the award, alleging it was a \"grotesque weaponization of the prize to fuel antisemitism and bigotry,\" accusing Pillay of promoting \"officially sanctioned demonization of Israel\" and spreading false claims of genocide. Born in Durban, South Africa, during apartheid, Pillay has spent her career advocating for universal legal principles and moral integrity. Her career spans roles as a lawyer, judge, and high commissioner, including leading the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Currently, Pillay serves as a judge at the International Court of Justice, presiding over a case accusing Myanmar of genocide. Her work aims to enhance the effectiveness of international law in preventing violence and war.",
