"account": "On Friday, the United States imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in an effort to dismantle the organization, according to President Donald Trump's administration. This move came shortly after a former ICC judge won the Nobel Peace Prize. The United States has been vocal in its opposition to the ICC, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that the US will never allow the court to prosecute Americans. The ICC has firmly maintained its independence and impartiality, vowing to continue its mission to prosecute individuals for international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and illegal aggression. Despite the US's opposition, 125 countries are full members of the ICC, with the United States being one of the notable exceptions. The ICC's President, Tomoko Akane, and a trial lawyer, Abdoulaye Seye, have been sanctioned by the US in recent months, with multiple reports suggesting that the US will sanction the entire organization.",
"summary": "The US has announced new sanctions on the International Criminal Court. It's the latest in a series of steps by the Donald Trump administration as it seeks to \"dismantle\" the intergovernmental organization.",
