"summary": "The horror movie \"Other Mommy\" starring Jessica Chastain is receiving negative reviews from critics. The film, directed by Rob Savage, is based on Josh Malerman's novel \"Incidents Around the House\" and follows a young girl whose imaginary friend resembles her mother, only to reveal sinister intentions. According to the Free Press Journal, the movie struggles to frighten its audience, relying on prolonged foreboding rather than suspense, with scares that rarely materialize.\n\nThe Free Press Journal gave the film 2 stars, stating that its psychological undertones are stronger than its frights, but the execution disappoints. The review also noted that the film's exploration of loneliness, parental conflict, and manipulation has merit, but the message becomes heavy-handed when the supernatural elements are involved.\n\nThe Polygon reported that horror is a hard genre to get right, and \"Other Mommy\" appears to be struggling to gain appreciation from genre fans and moviegoers. The only potential saving grace mentioned is that it's being released in October, a time when people are more likely to watch scary movies.",
