"account": "The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has garnered a clear lead in the reserved Assembly constituencies of Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu. Voting for the byelections, held on October 6, 2026, began at 8 a.m. on Friday (October 9). In Madurantakam, as of the 13th round of counting, TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel secured 46,895 votes, surpassing the DMK's I. Paranthamen with 32,786 votes, and the AIADMK's S. Kanitha Sampath with 28,664 votes. In Dharapuram, after the 20th round of counting, TVK's P. Sathyabama had 60,078 votes, while the DMK's S. Suganya had 50,075 votes, and the AIADMK's K. Banumathi had 38,760 votes. The bypolls were held after TVK's victory in the 2026 Assembly elections, with the party hoping to showcase its popularity and the opposition AIADMK vying to reclaim the seats.",
"summary": "The bypolls in the two constituencies were necessitated after Maragatham Kumaravel and P. Sathyabama, who had won the Madurantakam and Dharapuram seats, respectively, as AIADMK candidates in the 2026 Assembly elections, resigned as MLAs and joined the ruling TVK",
