"account": "The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) in Thailand is investigating the reasons behind its AI-based screening system's failure to detect the online gambling website Shuffle.com, which was reportedly linked to the husband of a Bhumjaithai Party MP. The website, which offered more than gambling-related content, was eventually blocked following a police request. DES permanent secretary Patchara Anantasilp explained that the website may have had relatively few users in Thailand, preventing the AI system from identifying it effectively. The DES relies mainly on AI and automated systems for screening illegal websites, aiming to minimize discretionary errors and avoid allegations of arbitrary enforcement. The ministry aims to improve the screening system by analyzing the Shuffle.com case and revising detection criteria. The DES blocked over 500,000 URLs linked to illegal websites last year, with the number rising to approximately one million this year due to enhanced screening and enforcement capabilities.",
