"account": "Two German officials were shot dead during a routine firearms inspection in Bavaria, leading to a 12-hour standoff with the suspected shooter. According to police, the victims were a 45-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman working for the district administration in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. The incident occurred on Thursday when the officials visited the 60-year-old suspect's home to ensure legally owned firearms were stored correctly. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 2 p.m. local time, triggering a major police operation. The 60-year-old homeowner barricaded himself inside his Bavarian home and was arrested early Friday after the prolonged standoff. Police found the 45-year-old government official dead outside the house, and his female colleague's body was discovered inside the building.
