"account": "On Thursday afternoon in New York, a federal immigration officer opened fire on a Dominican man, Oscar Belgal, during an arrest attempt, officials reported. The Department of Homeland Security was pursuing Belgal as part of a \"targeted enforcement operation,\" yet his shooting sparked protests and criticism from local officials, who argued it exemplified the risks associated with the Trump administration's immigration enforcement. The 28-year-old Belgal survived the incident and received medical treatment at a hospital. While DHS did not specify the circumstances leading to the shooting, citing only that an ICE officer discharged his weapon, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch provided additional details. Tisch stated that Belgal was about to pull into a parking space when plainclothes federal officers, each brandishing a firearm, approached him. Belgal attempted to pull the vehicle forward, and at least one of the officers discharged seven rounds, striking the man in the neck below his left ear, according to Tisch's account at a news conference near the shooting location late Thursday.",
