"account": "On Thursday, a shooting occurred in the Bronx, New York City, involving a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. The incident took place during an enforcement operation aimed at apprehending an individual who was considered a criminal illegal alien. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the ICE officer discharged his weapon, and the man involved was subsequently taken to a local hospital where he is alive. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed shock and outrage over the incident, stating that it was an \"unconscionable and incredibly serious situation.\" Initial reports suggest that agents surrounded the suspect, who had a young child in the car, before opening fire. Mamdani believes the child was not harmed. New York Governor Kathy Hochul, upon learning of the shooting, expressed her outrage on behalf of New Yorkers and requested the release of any body camera footage from the incident. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed by officials, is from the Dominican Republic and has a prior criminal record for grand larceny, along with multiple arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs, and weapons possession. He is also believed to be associated with the Trinitarios, a transnational criminal group identified by the US Justice Department. FBI officers were reportedly seen searching a car at the scene on Thursday evening. Mayor Mamdani has called for an end to ICE enforcement actions in the city, emphasizing that ICE agents have been \"terrorizing our communities.\" Protesters gathered at the scene on Thursday evening, chanting \"we want justice\" and \"ICE off our streets now.\"",
