"account": "On Thursday in New York City's Marble Hill neighborhood, a man was shot by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while driving with his 5-year-old child in the vehicle, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Eyewitnesses and city police reported that agents surrounded the man and his child before opening fire multiple times. The mayor stated that the child appeared to be physically unharmed. Mamdani pledged to speak with President Donald Trump and demand an end to ICE enforcement actions in the city, expressing his outrage at the incident. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clarified that the agents were conducting a targeted enforcement operation to arrest a man from the Dominican Republic with a prior criminal conviction. An ICE officer discharged his weapon during the incident, injuring the man, who is now being treated at a local hospital. The shooting occurred around 4 PM ET, according to DHS. Pedro Almarez, a restaurant worker near the scene, witnessed shots fired and described seeing several ICE officers in vehicles. NYPD officers arrived approximately 10 minutes after the shooting. At the scene, a woman on a balcony allegedly told officers they were \"taking our children.\" This incident is part of a series of 21 shootings involving federal immigration agents since the administration of Republican President Donald Trump, resulting in seven fatalities, sparking widespread protests across the United States.",
