"account": "The US will broadcast Nidal Hasan's scheduled December 3 military firing squad execution, marking the first such execution in the US military since 1945, a Pentagon official confirmed. Nidal Hasan, formerly an Army psychiatrist, was sentenced to death for killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. The execution will be livestreamed, a first for US military executions, Pentagon officials said. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who advocated for the firing squad, stated the decision was made to mirror the 2009 shooting's time, day, and location. The execution is set for 1pm on a Thursday at Fort Hood, reflecting the incident's timing and setting. Hasan, now 56, was partially paralyzed during his arrest and confined to a wheelchair. President Donald Trump approved the execution on Hegseth's recommendation, after a military jury sentenced him to death in August 2013. The last known military firing squad execution occurred in 1945, according to the Death Penalty Information Centre.",
