"account": "A top aide to the US ambassador to Israel, David Milstein, has repeatedly altered or suppressed diplomatic reports critical of Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to a New York Times investigation. The aide, 36, allegedly blocked, rewrote, or delayed reports about illegal Israeli settlement expansion, settler violence, and the killings of nine Palestinian Americans, the newspaper reported, citing US officials familiar with Milstein's work. The NYT interviewed 15 individuals who had worked with Milstein, as well as nine former diplomats, all of whom spoke on condition of anonymity due to fear of retaliation. Internal documents, including diplomatic cables and memos, also supported the findings. The investigation raised concerns among embassy staff and Washington officials that Milstein's interventions were distorting the information reaching the US government. Several sources told the NYT that Milstein's actions surpassed those of any recent predecessor and were undermining diplomatic efforts, even contradicting US President Donald Trump's policies.",
