"account": "US President Donald Trump clarified on Thursday that his previous comments suggesting Iran could \"take out\" California cities were misunderstood. He clarified that he was referring to the need for Americans to accept higher gas prices as a minor inconvenience in exchange for preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. Trump made the remarks at a political rally in Nebraska on Monday, discussing wartime economic sacrifices. He stated that the temporary rise in gasoline prices was a \"small price to pay\" for the safety of the nation, warning that Iran could potentially destroy cities like Los Angeles and San Diego. His remarks drew swift condemnation from Democratic leaders in California and some Republican allies. Trump later clarified his stance in a post on Truth Social, emphasizing that he meant the minor economic impact of higher gas prices, and expressed love for the cities he mentioned. He acknowledged that the cost of not having a nuclear-armed Iran would be greater than the temporary increase in fuel prices.",
