"account": "Condé Nast Traveler readers have chosen Puerto Vallarta and San Miguel de Allende as two of the top small cities in the world. Puerto Vallarta, a port and resort city on the Pacific coast of Mexico's Jalisco state, secured the second spot, just behind Victoria, Canada. San Miguel de Allende, a historic colonial town in Guanajuato, came in fourth, behind Florence, Italy. The annual Readers' Choice Awards, which have seen nearly 800,000 participants, recognized the allure of these Mexican destinations among travelers. San Miguel de Allende has been on the list for the past seven years, praised for its blend of colonial charm, modern amenities, and cultural offerings. Puerto Vallarta, often misconceived as a destination for cruise ships and spring breakers, was highlighted for its Old Town's charm and hidden gems like Ocean Grill and Yelapa. Both cities join other renowned Mexican beach destinations like Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Playa Balandra in the Best Beaches list.",
"summary": "Also honored by the magazine's famously discerning readers was Tulum, voted the second-best beach in the Americas, joining five other Mexican coastal destinations in the category, including Puerto Vallarta.
