"account": "Warner Bros.' 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians proved to be a massive box office success, leading to the announcement of a new series set to air on HBO. The original film's cast members, Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ronny Chieng, will reprise their roles in the series adaptation, while Michelle Yeoh will join them on a recurring basis. Adele Lim, the film's co-writer, will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer for the series. Notably, Lim's decision not to participate in a sequel to the original movie due to a significant pay disparity – she was offered only an eighth of her co-writer's salary – now benefits the new series. The first season of Crazy Rich Asians will consist of eight episodes, according to Lim. The film's plot had hinted at potential future storylines focusing on characters Astrid and Charlie, played by Gemma Chan and Harry Shum Jr., although their current roles in the series remain uncertain. HBO Max and 4K Ultra HD platforms will be the primary distribution channels for the series.",
