"summary": "Canadian poet and writer Anne Carson has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy announced the award, praising her bold and creative body of work that has created new forms of literature through a playful dialogue with classical traditions. According to the Business Recorder, the Academy said she was awarded \"for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature\".\n\nCarson, 76, is the second Canadian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, as reported by Premium Times. Her work often blends verse, prose, dialogue, and translation in a genre-defying mix, and she has also held Icelandic citizenship since 2022. The New Straits Times reported that she is currently in Iceland, where she was listening to the wind when she received the news.\n\nThe prize carries an award of 12 million Swedish crowns, equivalent to $1.2 million. Ingrid Carlberg, permanent secretary of the Academy, said Carson was taken by surprise but very happy when she was informed of the award. Carson's work ranges from opera libretti to literary criticism and verse novels, and she is widely known for her translations of classical Greek literature.",
