"account": "Canadian poet Anne Carson has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, according to the Swedish Academy. The academy cited Carson's \"bold and inventive oeuvre,\" recognizing her as a \"master of esoterica\" whose work merges ancient texts with avant-garde literature. Carson, a poet, essayist, classical scholar, and translator, has authored over 20 books, including poetry, essays, plays, libretti, and ancient Greek translations. Despite her prolific output, Carson has maintained a private personal life, with her biographical details limited to the phrase \"Canadian poet, essayist and translator of Greek mythology.\" Her academic background includes studying classics at the University of Toronto, where she holds teaching positions at McGill University, Michigan University, and Princeton University.\n\nCarson's literary career began in 1986 with academic essays on love, \"Eros the Bittersweet.\" However, it was her series of genre-defying books in the 1990s that solidified her reputation, blending classical literature with contemporary themes. The Ghost of a Poem, her 1998 novel in verse, retells the legend of Hercules as a modern love triangle, while her 2024 work, \"Wrong Norma,\" marks her first original work since 2016. Carson's accolades include two Griffin Poetry Prizes, a Governor General’s Literary Award, the T. S. Eliot Prize for Poetry, a MacArthur \"genius grant,\" and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her latest prize, the Nobel Prize in Literature, worth 12 million Swedish kronor, reflects her enduring impact on the literary world.",
