"account": "A police inspector and 11 other policemen have been charged again in Sungai Petani, Kedah, for allegedly using drugs two years ago. The 12 individuals, aged between 29 and 57, appeared before two magistrates in separate courts. All 12 pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from self-administering ketamine and MDMA at Aman Square between 4.20am and 7.23am on October 2, 2024. The accused were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, with penalties of up to two years' imprisonment or a fine of RM5,000. Five of the accused claimed trial before Magistrate Noor Farah Hazwani Osman, while seven others faced charges before Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa. Bails were set at RM2,000 each for the five accused before Noor Farah, and RM1,800 each for the seven accused before Noor Fazlina, with one surety for each. The cases were managed by deputy public prosecutors Nur Hazwani Noor and Adlin Sufiya Kamaruzzaman. Lawyers represented eight of the accused, while Burhanudden Abdul Wahid represented the remaining four. All 12 officers were suspended immediately after testing positive for drugs during an operation on October 2, 2024. They were initially charged in November 2024 but received discharges not amounting to acquittals in April 2025.",
